2021 Animal Exhibit Tag In Procedure


Beef:

Beef Steer Tags for the Eaton County Fair will be at the Eaton County Farm Bureau Co-Op starting February 1st 2021, please ask for Lisa Shilling in the main office. We will be doing the same as in the past. Please pick up your tags and the form. Please only take as many as you need. Then fill out the form, take a picture (make sure there is one showing the tag) and email the information to Crystal Kebler and Lisa Shilling. All steers must be tagged, and forms turned in by February 28, 2021.

Dairy Market Steers:

DAIRY MARKET STEERS: Leaders or Parents of Exhibitors will need to pick-up ear tags from Eaton Farm Bureau Co-Op (Caledonia Farmers Elevator) located at 2166 E. Clinton Trail, Charlotte, MI 48813. Tags will be available starting on February 1, 2021. Please ask for Lisa Shilling in the office. NOte: Dairy steers that were shown as feeders last year can keep in tag and use it.

DAIRY MARKET STEERS: One tag per animal will need to be placed in the right ear of the animal by February 28, 2021. Forms and photos are due February 28, 2021. 


Dairy Feeder:

DAIRY FEEDERS: Leaders or Parents of Exhibitors will need to pick-up ear tags from the Fair Office located at the Eaton County Fairgrounds, 1025 S. Cochran Ave., Charlotte, MI 48813 on Sunday April 11, 2021, 9am-3pm, or Monday April 12, 2021, 3pm-7pm. 

DAIRY FEEDERS: One tag per animal will need to be placed in the right ear of the animal by May 1, 2021. Forms and photos are due May 1, 2021. Vaccination paper work must be turned in on June 1 along with dairy market pen request form.

Sheep:

Sheep tag in will be held at the Sheep Barn at the Eaton County Fairgrounds on April 25, 2021, 1pm-4pm.

Swine:

Leaders or Parents of Exhibitors will need to pick-up ear tags from the Fair Office located at the Eaton County Fairgrounds, 1025 S. Cochran Ave., Charlotte, MI 48813 on Sunday April 11, 2021, 9am-3pm, or Monday April 12, 2021, 3pm-7pm.

Individual families will be responsible for tagging each hog, obtaining photos of the animal, and gathering a hair sample for each animal. Forms and photos may be submitted to eatoncountyfairswine@gmail.com. Hair samples along with a copy of the form are to be dropped off at the Eaton County Fair Office. Forms, photos, and hair samples must be submitted by May 1, 2021.

Ear taggers will be available upon request. Hogs that have USDA tags (840 RFID tags) can keep the USDA tags in the ear (do not retag), but must still fill out and return the form, hair samples, and photos. We encourage the use of your own RFID tags.

Once again this year, tags will be registered with the state and therefore all unused tags MUST be returned to the Fair Office or to Roger Harris or Clarence Humphrey.

If a tag falls out or is lost after tagging, it must be replaced with a new registered tag.  To obtain a new tag, contact Roger Harris or Clarence Humphrey.  Replacement tags must also be registered with the state.

This year we are requiring each member to provide:

  •       Hair sample from each hog, label bag with the tag number. (Bags will be provided when you pick up tags)
  •       Each member can tag in up to 5 hogs. 
  •       A photo of each hog showing the ear tag in ear. 
  •       All forms, photos, and hair samples must be submitted by May 1, 2021.
